No matter what your age or life season, there may come a time when you feel a little stagnant. These times can be unpleasant and even depressing because you may start to question your plans and goals in life. The best thing to do when you feel this happening is to rev things up a bit by doing new things. Step out of your comfort zone and focus your spare time and attention on something positive and exciting. The important thing is to find what makes you feel alive. Being truly happy in life is what it’s all about. Here are some ideas to fire up a new life season.
Fire Up A New Life Season #1: Dance!
If you’ve always wanted to take dance lessons or even salsa classes, why not do it now? After all, you’ve spent years taking care of others and helping them live their dreams. It’s your turn to experience all that you have dreamed of! Take a friend or your partner and see what those dancing feet can do! And, don’t worry if you’re not in the best of shape. Dancing is a fabulous form of exercise that will help get your heart pumping! I recommend finding a class that caters to beginners, so you won’t feel intimidated by a bunch of pros. Find the style of dance that speaks to you. Ballet, jazz, ballroom, and tap are all fun and will keep you moving for many years to come.
Fire Up A New Life Season #2: Volunteer
If you always put others first, and like to do all you can to help people, then look for charities that need volunteers. You could start helping out at the local soup kitchen that feeds the homeless. Or what about starting your own organization for people that you feel need support. Reaching out to the less fortunate helps us realize how lucky we actually are and brings much needed gratitude if it’s been lacking.
I love to see entrepreneurs sharing their skills and time with youth. Mentoring is also another outstanding way to fire up your life. I can’t think of many things more exciting than watching young people grow and learn from the support of someone older and wiser.
Fire Up A New Life Season #3: Write
Writing is a beautiful way to express yourself and process the experiences of your life. You have the freedom to say exactly how you feel at anytime. You can choose to share your opinions and beliefs with no one or with everyone. I started this blog in my forties after raising 5 of my 6 children. It’s been an enormous inspiration for most of what I do now, including write books, coach, and teach.
When I say “write”, I don’t mean it has to be just blogs, articles, or books. How about music, poetry, or encouragement letters? Do what fulfills you and creates a sense of purpose and excitement in your life. And, remember, nothing has to come of anything we’ve discussed here. It’s fine to do things just because they make you happy.
