If you are looking for a job, where you can design your own kick ass path, you probably have a creative personality type. Creative types find that creating comes easily, and they usually can’t see living life without shaping and molding the world in some way.You might be wondering what type of career would fit your superpowers as a creative and satisfy your innovative vibe. You need a job that allows you to stretch those creative muscles and design something completely original. And, when you find that fitting job or career, there is no holding you back! Do you want to be the next woman to leave your creative mark on society? Here are some career choices to consider.
Published Writer
Creatives are often fantastic writers. Generally speaking, a writer’s dream is likely to get published. And, as difficult as that may be, with a creative spirit, you possess many of the qualities to get the job done. But these days, getting published the traditional way is an incredibly difficult process. Not all books are dreamed up in private studies anymore; the concepts are pitched in boardrooms by a team of editors. They then hire the author to write the book. In effect, the creativity has been squeezed out the process.
Thankfully, there are easier ways to get your work out there. You can get started by setting up your own blog. Write about whatever you like and add articles as frequently as you can. This is one way to get noticed as a writer and start building an audience. Once you get your writing muscle stronger, start applying to guest post on other more popular blogs. This is how you build up your platform as a writer. There are also many other companies that will help you self-publish your books. There is even a company called Booktrope that is pioneering a new method called team publishing that is really a format that takes the best of both traditional and self-publishing worlds. You can always go back and try to win over those mainstream publishers or agents when you have a solid following and writing platform.
Music Producer
Like any other creative industry, this is an incredibly competitive career choice. But that doesn’t mean you can’t find success along this path. If you need visibility and music producer advice, put yourself out there as much as possible. Again, make a name for yourself online and join as many social networking sites as possible. Sites such as freelancer.com and linkedin will be particularly beneficial to you. Remember, you can’t get hired if you can’t be found. Of course, marketing yourself online is the fastest way to do this. Also, take advantage of the opportunities that come your way. If people have known and loved you as a musician, singer, composer, expand your work to include helping others on their projects. Referrals and positive testimonies are your best friend. Even, if these side jobs are not in your your genre or a perfect fit, they can be stepping stones to success.
Advertising/Marketing
It’s clear when watching television commercials and reading print ads that creativity is in high demand by large corporations. Whether it’s the car ads that run absurdly long or the sensual deodorant campaigns, ad companies are hired to create memorable and innovative brands and campaigns to sell their client’s products. If you desire a fast-paced, competitive career, advertising might be your ticket. With the right drive and innovative mind, there is no reason you can’t provide them with the kick ass ideas they need. Advertising is just another art form. You can use this talent to make big corporations look really good, or you can do this for your own company. Bottom line: all businesses need marketing and advertising ideas that capture their audience’s attention and call them to action. I do this work for my own coaching business and for my branding clients. And, you better believe it’s extremely creative!
Always know that even if you don’t choose a specific creative career path, you should use that badass creativity in all that you do! Shine right where you are and look for ways to make your life, biz, and the world more beautiful!
Remember, if you can imagine or dream it, you can do it!
