3 Lifestyle Choices That Change Health Drastically

Even the healthiest among us can make improvements to the way they lead their lives. Some of us stay physically healthy but don’t address all of our emotional problems. Others might eat well and exercise frequently but undo their hard work when it comes to their unhealthy vices. I recommend taking an inventory of your life frequently in order to improve your health. Here are a few lifestyle choices that change health drastically.

#1: Be Active Every Day

It’s so easy to lead a sedentary lifestyle in the modern world. Simply put, moving your body every day will improve your general health by leaps and bounds. The good you can do your cardiovascular system makes any effort worth it. However, that’s just one reason to get and stay active. This powerhouse action also improves digestion, sleep, organ function, as well as lowering risk for diseases like cancer and diabetes. It also slows the aging process and helps you to look and feel younger.  Get yourself moving every day if you want to improve your life and health!

 #2: Limit or Eliminate Vices

As mentioned in the introduction, some people take care of themselves until it comes to their vices. Unfortunately, including healthy habits in your daily lifestyle does not completely cancel out unhealthy habits. Do know that the occasional sugary snack or alcoholic beverage is fine if you have a balanced diet and an active lifestyle. However, moderation is the key to everything. If you consume things in excess then your wellbeing will suffer.

It might be time to cut down on unhealthy vices if you seriously want to improve your health. If you think that your habits have become addictive, it’s possible you may need outside help. Don’t be afraid to reach out to a therapist, friends, family or even a facility like Lake Wellness Center. Look at the bigger picture of where you want to be in your life as you take inventory of your choices.

 #3: Sleep Better

If you want to make an improvement to your health, get better quality sleep. A good night’s rest does more for you than simply boosting your energy. It helps your heart work better and your immune system protect you against invaders. Also, consider the benefits to mental health and overall mood. There is a reason that we can’t handle much stress and emotional strain when we aren’t sleeping well. Consistency is the key here. Try to go to bed and get up at the same time every day.

I recommend investing in a fitness tracker that also gives you data about how well you sleep. I use a FitBit Alta regularly to monitor heart rate and sleep patterns. It’s been extremely valuable for me to see where my poor patterns are and what helps me to get a better night’s sleep.
