It’s an understatement to say that this past year has been difficult for most people. If nothing else, the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us that life is short and precious. Therefore, as we move along this path of change and the unknown, we are in need of self-care and deeper awareness of our own needs. This elicits even more of a need to treat yourself well.
If there are dreams you have been putting off, or if you have been waiting for the right time, realize that time is never guaranteed. Caring for yourself actually allows you to support others better because you become stronger. Think about when you’re on a plane, and you’re told to put on your oxygen mask first before you help others, the same applies to life. Look after yourself first so you’re able to look after the other people in your life.
Brings Focus to the Positive
While it’s been an extremely difficult year, it’s important to take note of the positives. Have you been able to save money or spend more time with your kids? Have you had time to take care of your body? Reflect on what you have accomplished this year, and take pride in your achievements.
Remember that life is short and won’t wait for you to figure it all out. For example, if you had planned to start university this year or change jobs, consider your options as reflected by the current situation. Be adaptable and look for positive opportunities. As far as experiencing something new, whether it’s taking top CPA review courses or learning to knit, challenge yourself to better your mind and life right now. Don’t let this pandemic stop you; find a way to do it.
Self-fulfillment Makes You Self-Aware
Taking time to care for yourself is an exercise in self-discovery. Experiencing a clearer view of yourself helps you to move more smoothly to goals, dreams, and, ultimately, happiness. You just might discover that the path you’ve been so adamantly walking on doesn’t fit your image of who you want to become. And, yes, you can change your path even in this rocky landscape.
You’ll Inspire Others
Don’t underestimate the influence you have on people around you. If you do things for yourself, your friends, family members, and coworkers will notice. This can be an inspiring experience for them, as women often look for permission to treat themselves well. Your ability to change and grow is a platform that allows you to be seen and heard by those who want the same thing for themselves.
I’ve always been an advocate for self-care and awareness. Though I’m not perfect at it, I know consistency does make a difference in my life and for those around me. It really boils down to taking your power back and using it to strengthen your life and experience. Remember, you deserve to have joy, peace, and success.
