3 Tips For Locating Someone Quickly

It would be hard to find someone in the modern world who hasn’t lost touch with old friends and family members. After all, people simply don’t stay in the same towns and cities as they did generations ago. Relocation, marriage, and careers take people far from their hometowns all the time. So what do you do if you want to find someone you haven’t seen or heard from in years?

Fortunately, in this modern world full of technology, it’s easier than ever to locate long lost lovers, pals, and cousins. Let’s take a look at some simple steps to find somebody you have loved and lost or just an old friend you would like to reach out to again.

Social Media Is Your Friend

So, the first place to look when trying to track somebody down is social media. Do keep in mind, however, that you might not hit your bullseye right off the bat. Though social media platforms are a great place to reconnect to old friends, finding them could be a little tricky, especially if you’re looking for a woman.

Because platforms like Facebook require you to know a person’s first and last name (and spell it correctly), locating a woman whom you knew by her maiden name will not work. That is unless she has added her sir name to her account.

You can also search for groups or pages that your friend might be a member of. These include high school, college, places of employment, towns, clubs, churches, and other organizations. Additionally, look for relatives and mutual friends you may have known. Remember, men are easier to locate by their last name.

Use an Online People Search Engine

If you strike out with social media, you might try an online directory. There are many out there but most will charge a small fee to get detailed contact information about people. However, you can extract basic information for free, and this may be all you need to continue your search successfully.

I have found that the more information you have in advance, the easier it is to locate someone successfully. Try to remember where the person was born, date of birth, age, parent’s names, etc. To confirm you have found the right person, enter the name on social media accounts to check for mutual friends and make sure known relatives are on the friends list.

Get Professional Help

If you find yourself looking for a relative, and social media brings nothing, consider calling in a professional. Hiring a Private Investigator may seem like overkill, but finding people and clues is their expertise. This could be a viable option if finding someone is a matter of great importance or worth the financial investment. For example, if you know you want to find someone in the UK, it would be more affordable to go with someone local. Private investigators use digital technology, intel programs, interviews, and skip tracing to track down a person.
