4 Healthcare Role Interview Questions And How To Answer Them

The healthcare industry is expanding rapidly as the population grows and more people need medical advice, care, and facilities. There is, therefore, many opportunities in the field of medicine and healthcare for those looking for a career or new position. In this post, we’ll take a look at some of the most common questions asked in a healthcare role interview and how you can answer them successfully.

What Do You Find Most Rewarding about Work in Healthcare?

The purpose of this question is to find out more about what motivates you as a woman in your career. The trick here is to make your answer outward-focused, meaning that you demonstrate concern for the people with whom you work.

Here’s how you might respond:

“I love working in the healthcare industry because it gives me a chance to change the lives of others in meaningful ways. I am intrinsically motivated by compassion, and I enjoy the reward that comes with successful patient outcomes.”

What Training Have You Received for This Role?

The healthcare industry relies heavily on employing competent individuals who can help patients beyond offering mere platitudes. It helps, therefore, if you’ve been trained with top online NP programs or from an accredited establishment. Additionally, your experience is a huge plus in some cases.

A model answer might sound something like:

“I have education from some of the top schools in the country. I took the opportunity to use my residencies to learn practical skills that will help me in the current role.”

What Are You Looking Forward to Most About Having a New Role?

Answering this question is a little trickier because it requires you to understand what you want, as well as what you might be doing at this particular job. In fact, that’s one of the reasons why interviewers ask it – they want to find out whether you know what you might be getting yourself into.

Here is how you might answer this question:

“I am looking forward to providing excellent service to the patients in my care. My focus is on lifelong learning, and I intend to make progression an integral part of the role.”

What Should We Know About You As a Person?

This question is perhaps the most difficult to answer in an interview because you can take it in pretty much any direction you want. Even more challenging is the fact that different interviewers are looking for different things. Some want to know more about the kind of person you are and whether you can introspect and talk about yourself in a meaningful way. Others want to know whether your personality and skillset fit the job and team culture.

The best way to answer this question is with a hybrid answer – one that involves a bit of introspection and a bit of practical knowledge. You might say something like:

“I am an experienced health professional with many years already under my belt. I’m looking forward to this role because it will help me achieve my goals. I am always growing and looking for a facility that fits in with my values.”
