If you’ve wanted to form some new friendships or even fall in love, you must first meet some new people. I know this may seem like a daunting thing to do, especially in the scary world we live in. However, approached with a plan, this fundamental activity of being social can be fun and safe. Here are my top 5 ways to meet new people.
Meet New People Through People You Know
One of the best and safest ways to meet new people is through your friends and family. I know you just cringed, right? Visions of an awful blind date flooding your mind? Yes, I know those can go horribly wrong. I’m thinking more on the line of attending gatherings or parties of your friends to meet new people. This way, you are not forced to sit awkwardly face-to-face with someone you don’t know. Hanging out casually is the perfect setting to be organically attracted to new friends or even a lover.
If you do meet someone that you’d like to spend more time with, ask your friends how they know this person. Get the 411 before you agree to be alone. This is wisdom and will keep you safe.
Meet New People By Doing Something New
Wanting to spread your social wings is a sign that you are going into a new season of your life. This new season is ripe and ready to welcome new people and ideas. It’s your time to do something you’ve never done before. Think about the things on your bucket list or those “dreams” you may have left behind. Instead of just thinking about them, do them. At least, give yourself a chance to try at least one new thing. I bet you will meet some new people on this wonderful adventure!
Meet New People By Talking to Your Neighbours
Our world has become overly cautious and many people hide more than they share themselves. I get it, but this practice could be holding you back from being all that you can be. What’s more, there are people out there who need you, too. Your new best friend or romantic partner might just be closer than you think…across the street close! Try actually talking to your neighbours rather than just awkwardly nodding in the street! You can still use wisdom and safe practices while engaging with people you don’t know.
Meet New People By Leaving the House More Often
You’re never going to meet new people bingeing on a Netflix series all the time. The simple act of leaving your house can make such a difference if you are truly interested in being social. I know you think about that AstroStyle horoscope that said you will meet a special person very soon. Yeah, you might if you get out the front door! You could end up striking up a conversation at your local coffee shop or in the park. I’ve met some of my best friends this way.
Meet New People By Volunteering
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people while also giving something back to the community. Many of these volunteer positions are filled with good, generous people who may be a little bored with their lives as well. Most people involved will be eager to talk and share common interests with others. This gives you the perfect opportunity to meet new people who have similar values and interests.
