There are plenty of ways to lose weight, but some leave you unsatisfied and hungry. It’s important to find a weight loss plan that works for you and your lifestyle. Additionally, there are some tricks that can help the plan to work faster, depending on what your goals are. You should also always consult with your physician before starting any type of diet or fitness program. Here are a few of my top tips for faster weight loss.
Cut Back on Sugar
Trust me when I say that added sugar is your enemy. We naturally get some sugar from fruits and even some veggies, however, anything above that is considered “added”. I good rule is to try and keep added sugar intake below 25 grams or 6 teaspoons for women, according to the American Heart Association. This shouldn’t be too difficult to track, as most foods list the amount of sugar on the packaging.
When you limit sugar, hunger levels and actual cravings should drop over time. This helps train your body to use stored fat for energy instead of the sugar. Your body will also shed excess salts and toxins, reducing bloat and water weight.
Eat Lean Protein, Vegetables, and Healthy Fats
The best plate scenario is one that has a protein, vegetables, and a fat source. This is to help balance any carbohydrates you do eat. The amounts of each food group will depend on what type of plan you are on, your goals, and where you are on your weight loss journey. I do recommend having a plan or outline for these serving sizes.
Choose the foods that you like from each group, so mealtime doesn’t become negative. With so many types of weight loss plans out there, you should be able to find something that works and you enjoy.
Lift Weights
Women can greatly benefit from lifting weights, both light and heavier. If you don’t want to go to a gym, simply invest in some free weights you can use at home. Furthermore, you can use household items and the weight of your body to do some exercises.
You might also benefit from a personal trainer or workout videos. This type of help can bring you closer to your goals faster because of structure and accountability.
Listen to Motivating Music During Workouts
Listening to music is a great way for you to boost your motivation when working out. I use it regularly on the treadmill and while doing free weight training. It’s time to play your favorite upbeat music that brings joy and extra energy. Google workout playlists if you need some ideas. Make sure to watch the volume of your headphones or earbuds, as you can damage hearing listening too loud. Click here to find out more about hearing care and safety.
Drink Coffee
Drinking coffee can boost your metabolism in the short term. Unfortunately, our bodies become tolerant to the caffeine and will require more to get the same result. However, it could still help cur, your appetite, helping you to eat less. Make sure you don’t add unnecessary sugar or dairy to your daily coffee, as this will counteract any benefit it might have.
