4 Crucial Actions For Optimal Health And Wellness

The new year has arrived, and it has brought with it an ideal opportunity for growth and change. This includes improving your health and wellness. Making changes in this one area can also boost many different areas of your life. When you feel and look good, your confidence rises, you think better, and you make better decisions. Here are some crucial actions for optimal health and wellness in the new year.

Exercise Regularly

Exercise is one of the best ways to stimulate better health for the body, mind, and spirit. This is because we are meant to move and not sit at a desk all day. All those aches and pains in the joints and muscles could be from a lack of this important action. There are so many factors at play here. It’s crucial to move in different ways to keep the whole body in shape. Consider how a child moves at will and with no thought. She crawls, runs, spins, skips, squats, and keeps her whole body active and in optimal condition without care. That’s how normal exercise is.

Unfortunately, as we age, movement becomes more of a chore, an act that has to be calculated, and something that we consider challenging. This could be because we haven’t remained active throughout our lives and, instead of being fun and “normal”, exercise is just another thing that exhausts us. Yikes! That sounds like the definition of getting old! For this seemingly unkind scenario, I recommend starting slowly and working up to more exercise as you can. Also, find something that you love to do every day.

Eat Better

The simple act of improving your diet is a true pillar of optimal health and wellness. The old saying, “you are what you eat” isn’t as far off base as it sounds. Our bodies need a laundry list of vitamins and minerals to function normally, let alone to thrive. When we eat poor-quality food regularly, we deprive our bodies of these vital nutrients.

The best way that I have found to improve my diet is to choose one or two areas to start in. For example, I might focus on cutting down on sugar and processed foods first. This alone has had a huge impact on my overall health. I encourage you to start where you are and make simple changes that you can stick to. Once you do that, you can finetune your eating plan as you discover what foods make you feel better and which ones that don’t.

Remember Your Oral Health

Taking steps to look after and improve your oral health is essential for keeping the rest of you healthy. Most people don’t think about their teeth as being a vital part of the body. This is unfortunate because the teeth can bring an avalanche of trouble if not cared for properly. Things like visiting your local dentist for regular checkups, executing daily oral maintenance, and staying away from super acidic foods can make a world of difference.

Rest More

There are so many benefits to a good night of sleep, I can’t even list them all here. One thing you must know is that our bodies heal and rejuvenate during sleep and rest periods. That fact alone is a solid reason to guard your sleep with your life. Our world is stressful and polluted. We need ample time to clear these negative things just to function normally. So what do you think happens if we don’t get that time of healing? Right, we don’t do so well.

Do try to get your long sleep in every night but also get smaller rest periods during the day. These times will best serve you if you put down your phone and avoid electronics altogether. Even 10-minute mini naps will help you rebalance and reset your body and mind positively.
