It was 3:00 PM on a Sunday, I walked into my closet and realized that I didn’t relate to what I saw hanging there. I had changed. Or better yet, I had launched…the real me. The woman who had bought all of those clothes and shoes was only a shell of who I thought she was, who I thought she had to be. And though I don’t have much to wear these days, until I can shop, I am one on fire, happy girl!
You should know that though this transformation seemed to literally happen over night, there were years of soul-searching that came before the moment I knew my time had come to be everything I’d wanted to be. It was all of that “work” I did that made the change happen in lightning speed. My mentor and colleague, Joy Balma says, I have never related to a quote more than this one.
Change comes when you are damn good and ready for it and can show up like a tidal wave, but its predecessor can be a stalking shadow around every corner of your life for a long time. I merely existed through that part, living life through a a filter. Afraid. Lonely. Bullied…by myself.
The thing I tried to do all those years of pussy-footing around my life was to become myself a little at a time. Yes, there is some truth and resonance with that theory; however, I discovered that I was making kitten impact on myself and the world when I wanted to be a lion. My life and business resembled the boring product campaigns that you always switch off of the TV or rush to the next page in a magazine. It lacked the X factor and any form of originality and excitement. What’s worse is I thought this was me. Oh, no, no, no! The real me was dying to show up. But she patiently (not really…she was kicking and screaming) waited there in the shadows for me to wake the hell up and invite her to the party! No, let her plan the party…
A woman's brand reveals her own evolution - the work she has done to know herself. ~Joy Balma Share on XI am in one long epiphany now that I’ve let my Muse shine and found some balance between being the perfect Excellence Girl and a creative rock star (stick with me, you’ll understand what I mean). What I’ve learned and am learning in the Rock Your Feminine Type Branding Academy is nothing short of a tidal wave of the juiciest freedom-inducing tonic I’ve ever encountered! What’s more, I am not only yanking my own life out of complacency, but I will proudly give other women permission and the tools to live life without grungy filters. This stuff is so powerful it is creating a movement on social media right now! Women want to be themselves. Women want to be bold. Women want to be heard. Those things require action. I know how to ignite it!
“The real me was dying to show up. But she patiently waited there in the shadows for me to wake the hell up and invite her to the party! “
