Staying Focused On Purpose

Have you ever been shopping for a specific item like a formal dress or pair of shoes?  Well, sure you have.  And, while on that shopping trip, did you tend to get really distracted by all the new seasonal fashions and trends.  Suddenly, your purposeful trip to the mall gets derailed…at least for a few minutes while you rush to the dressing room to try on that cute top you just couldn’t resist scooping up into your arms.  After all, it’s so much fun to indulge in things that don’t have rhyme or reason, huh?  And though I have my fair share of these carefree occasions, I want to use this scenario to explain how living your life like this regularly can literally derail your train to authentic purpose.

Are You Ready for Purpose…No, Really Ready?

The reason I’m asking this is because I’ve realized on my own journey to purpose that not everyone is ready to even think about why they are here, let alone what that truly means.  It’s a question that deserves an answer though.  It’s perfectly fine, once you understand your purpose, to set the serious stuff aside for a season so it can simmer and mature; however, if you are ignoring it all together, you may find yourself struggling needlessly.  If life seems to be difficult and not cutting you any slack, this could be a sign that you are not listening to your inner goddess….the lovely inner self who doesn’t like it too much when she doesn’t get her way.  Her way is the higher way…just so you know.  Being ready to hear her takes some courage and open mindedness.  Because you know things will likely need to change a little after that heart-to-heart.

The Beauty of Passion and Talent

Every day your gifts, talents, and passions surround you.  They are affixed to who you are and likely won’t disappear unless you flat out refuse to engage in them.  And, trust me, I’m not saying that you should push any of those things out of your life; however, I do want you to pay attention to how those qualities serve you and others, how they progress, and how they fit into your life dreams.  Sometimes passion and talent show up in ways that don’t lead you directly to your authentic purpose.  In those instances they can actually distract you from the very thing you are meant to do.  I have the perfect example:

Years ago, before I knew what my purpose was, I started writing a novel…a paranormal, crime thriller to be exact.  I know, right?  Pretty far away from what I do now.  Anyway, I really loved it, was passionate about every word I typed and thought I’d found my true career path.  I was fine with being a novelist for the rest of my life…really.  The process of finishing my first novel was a lot of work but more satisfying than anything I’d done career wise in the past. It was a beautiful thing.  Well, that was until I started feeling unfulfilled and as though something important was missing.

I struggled with it for awhile, pushed the buttons when clearly I wasn’t supposed to.  Don’t get me wrong, it all had a reason for showing up in my life…I believe reason is the child of purpose.  Luckily, I recognized the subtle messages from within and from beyond myself and I accepted that my career as a novelist would not take center stage.  Maybe an off Broadway, side show…:)

Now, even though I have days when I would love to just be a novelist, I know that beautiful talent was a mere stepping stone to get me writing again and digging a little deeper into what I would use it for.  So, bottom line, though passion and talent is beautiful and amazing, it doesn’t always mean you should glue yourself to it for the long haul.  Experience it, be grateful for it, but allow it to carry you further into purpose and regular communication with the goddess and outside divine influence.

Clarity…At Last

Seeing something clearly is extremely validating and fulfilling…not like the confusing, broken feeling I get in the morning while trying to read my phone screen without my glasses.  When we are able to focus completely on something, we are at our best, our highest functioning.  Multitasking really is overrated.  Clarity of purpose is better than chocolate, I say.  It shows you who you are and what steps will bring that woman to the forefront of your life, the woman who will serve the world with her personal best.  The energy that surrounds you while staying on the journey to purpose is literally electrifying!  Life becomes easier. People and opportunities show up out of the blue.  It serves you to remain faithful to this path.  You may just find out that those other passions and talents fit in nicely, even if they look a little different.

This focusing stuff is really a way of learning how to listen to your gut, your intuition.  We as women should never leave this part of ourselves behind for anything or anyone.  The more we connect to our goddess, the more she illuminates the path ahead.  This kind of focus and clarity is how those famous, balanced, world-shaking women made it to their truth and authentic place in the world. Now, let me ask you again…Are you ready for purpose?

About Kellie R. Stone

"I make no excuses for my diverse roles as a Rock Your Feminine Type Coach™ and Branding Expert, best-selling author, and crime thriller novelist. Yes, I do still chuckle a bit at the irony. I kick ass as a women’s biz coach by day and kill off vulnerable fiction characters at night. What the hell, it makes for some interesting dreams. I believe that everyone should pursue their passions no matter how out there they seem to be. One of those pure heart-fluttering passions for me has always been writing. Since I did, indeed, chase my dream of being a writer, I've published two non-fiction books in the self-development genre, co-authored an international best seller, and now I'm finally pushing my much-too-old-to-be-in-the-nest novel out the door and into the world. My whole world is empowering and I adore showing others how to live life unfiltered, whether I do that through the written word or my coaching work. I love my job!" ~Kellie R. Stone
