4 Ways To Be Happier As You Age

Life can be so challenging that you might find yourself in a slump. The good news is there are doable changes that can positively impact your life. These changes are especially for being happier as you age. Aging happens to everyone, but it affects each of us differently. Some thrive, some get stuck, and some can be at a crossroads of life. Of course, there are a million other ways to respond to aging. The one prominent hope among the population is to be happy no matter what.

The upside of life no matter your age is that you keep moving forward as you stay present. Consider making changes that improve your body, mind, and spirit to be happier as you age. For this challesnge, the best advice I can give is this: JUST START!

Take Good Care of Yourself

It’s important that you put your needs first, especially as you age. This means taking good care of yourself by practicing self-care. This means different things to different women, but I encourage you to get the basics down. Make a firm effort to eat healthful meals, move your body every day, and adopt a sleep schedule that is appropriate for your age. You’ll feel better and have more natural energy when you are consistent with actions to improve your health and well-being. Your habits and lifestyle impact the way you feel. Make yourself a priority each day of your life!

Find Rewarding Work/Purpose

be happier as you ageIt’s never too late to make changes in what you do for work, play, or contribution to this world. Because many women work into their fifties, sixties and later, it’s important to love what you’re doing. No matter your age, think about what truly brings joy to your life. If you haven’t considered it lately, maybe it’s time that you did. Getting older does not mean you should give up on dreams and life goals.

Additionally, as an aging woman, there are many changes that occur in your body and this can impact how you feel at work and during other events. I highly recommend that you learn more about going through life changes at midlife and beyond. This includes how to handle Menopause in the Workplace. Know that your aging body and mind may require some extra days off because you aren’t feeling like yourself.

Practice Gratitude

Practicing gratitude goes a long way to help you to be happier as you age. It’s something not to take for granted no matter what life brings. You don’t know how ungrateful you’ve been until you actively try to be thankful. It’s sort of like going to the eye doctor and finding out you need new glasses. You didn’t realize it until you put the new ones on that you weren’t seeing well.

Being grateful helps you to take focus away from the negative or what lacks in your life. Oddly, as humans, we naturally tend to see the bad stuff before the good…it’s in our DNA. It helped me to write down what I’m thankful every day. Reading this list frequently saved me precious time I didn’t spend worrying, feeling jipped, or sorry for myself. No matter what, stay committed to practicing gratitude and embracing the gift of life.

Maintain an Active Social Life

It doesn’t matter how you connect to others as long as you do your best to make it happen regularly. Aging is hard enough without the addition of lonliness and isolation.

You’ll be happier when you remain outgoing and have activities and events to look forward to. It’s a remarkable way to nurture the relationships you have currently and an opportunity to meet new people. Surround yourself with people whom you trust and feel kindred to. this goes a long way when you need to talk, work through something, or you just want to live and have fun.

I hope these tips help you embrace a path of joy and peace. More than anything, I know they can help you be happier as you age. You’ll feel better and can keep a positive mindset by making some simple shifts to your life. Be well. Be happy. Be YOU!

About Kellie R. Stone

"I make no excuses for my diverse roles as a Rock Your Feminine Type Coach™ and Branding Expert, best-selling author, and crime thriller novelist. Yes, I do still chuckle a bit at the irony. I kick ass as a women’s biz coach by day and kill off vulnerable fiction characters at night. What the hell, it makes for some interesting dreams. I believe that everyone should pursue their passions no matter how out there they seem to be. One of those pure heart-fluttering passions for me has always been writing. Since I did, indeed, chase my dream of being a writer, I've published two non-fiction books in the self-development genre, co-authored an international best seller, and now I'm finally pushing my much-too-old-to-be-in-the-nest novel out the door and into the world. My whole world is empowering and I adore showing others how to live life unfiltered, whether I do that through the written word or my coaching work. I love my job!" ~Kellie R. Stone
