Under The Leaves

A few days ago, while raking leaves, my cat loved attacking the rake. I laughed at the amount of joy that Mageara gained from this menial task I needed to finish. I enjoyed the task more because she did. Just as I began to pull in another pile of leaves and the cat jumped at the rake, I took delight in something else! I uncovered little white daisies. They were in full bloom, smiling up at me as if they had the secret to life. I laughed out loud at such a weird find in late fall. And then, of course, I took a picture!  Several thoughts came to mind, which I want to share with you.

1. Sometimes we must do a chore at hand to uncover something beneficial. I never would have seen the beauty under the decaying leaves, if I had not done the work.

2. There is growth going on even if things seem dead on the surface. It had been chilly, then warm, then cool again. All the flowers should have been dead. Yet, there it was, covered up by dead crisp leaves. Life was going on even while the leaves were dying. Even though there may be something disappointing going on in my life, I know there is something else working out for my benefit. I am not down playing loss or pain that someone may be feeling, but I want to encourage you to look  for the daisy blooming under the leaves.

3. While I know there are so many other lessons I could mention, I will leave you with these final thoughts:

Sometimes it takes a little work to uncover the surprises in our lives.

There are these moments in life where everything looks dismal or full of decay, but if you can get past the surface…
you might just get a surprising jolt of joy as you uncover a spray of little white daisies.

About Karin Rochelle

My desire is to reach out to women with three goals in mind. Encourage. Enlighten. Engage. I also carry these desires into my music. This year I hope to expand my horizons not just for myself, but for those around me. I would like to encourage women to build each other up, to take risks and focus on goals and succeed in the challenges of everyday life. Nothing is too hard to accomplish with a support system. I want to enlighten or reconnect them to concepts they hold dear but have fallen away from, teaching how to make wiser decisions that not only focus on personal well being but that of mankind.
