In this material world of ours, it’s not hard to get “price” focused. “How much is it going to cost me?” and “I can’t pay that much.” frequently roll off our tongues like deep set affirmations. Well, actually, these and other words and thoughts can become infused into our minds as the normal way of walking through life. I’m not just talking about money and financial things either. There is a price for everything we do or experience in life. But there is also a potential or a payoff. Which one are you focused on?
Price Focused Life
First, let’s define “price” a little better. Price is anything we give in exchange for goods, services, results, experience, and feelings. Some things we consider “priceless”, like love, joy, peace, and the happiness of our families; though, these things are not bought with money, they do also have a price attached to them. We “give” our time, energy, love, thought, and attention to others, and that is what creates those beautiful pleasures in return. We don’t often focus on the price we pay to experience these things because we consider them necessary and what makes life worth living- a gift to ourselves.
In order to walk on the side of wisdom and understanding, it is important for us to know what price we will pay for the things we want and need in our lives. It is necessary, really. It’s the next steps taken that determine whether our focus stays there or it moves into the realm of potential and possibility. Focusing on price, no matter what we are “buying”, leads to can’t consciousness and the the development of fear and, honestly, puts us into a box. And it happens even when our focus shifts to the price for the “priceless” things: love, a happy marriage, a fulfilling career, health.
It boils down to the ability to set priorities and understand the value in our potential. You won’t see the potential payoff and joy in obtaining health or love if you focus on how much it’s going to hurt to secure them. There is a vast difference between keeping your eyes on the prize and wallowing in the pain and struggle to create life change. Wallowers give up because it hurts too much. It stings. It burns. It isn’t comfortable. But, hey, we all go through this period. We don’t have to stay there, though.
Potential Focused Life
So what is potential? It’s possibility. It’s any place you want to go, any thing you desire to have, any emotion you want to feel, any change you want to achieve. That dream or goal out in the future is your potential. This can get a little tricky, though. It’s in the future in the sense that it hasn’t happened or the “price” has not been paid yet. However, focus pulls it into the now. Living in the moments of our lives is potential in action. Paying a price takes something from us. Potential provides us reason to pay it willingly and joyfully. A good example is childbirth. If we choose motherhood, we don’t back down from what we have to do or pay to birth that child. Even though we know it will hurt, we focus on the potential and payoff of the relationship we already feel and love. It’s potential in action. I believe this action can be harnessed and utilized in all areas of our lives.
[Tweet “Paying a price takes something from us. Potential provides us reason to pay it willingly and joyfully. “]Pushing past where we presently are is uncomfortable. It takes us into pain sometimes. But, it isn’t even the pain that stops us normally, it’s the fear. Fear of failure. Fear of not being good enough. Fear of rejection. Fear of pain. Fear is an illusion that your mind makes real enough to cause you to either do something or not do something. Have you ever told yourself you couldn’t work out or do something new because you were afraid of a result? Like, if I do those squats my legs will be too sore to walk the next day. This excuse and fear-based thinking is what keeps women from reaching their potential. I’ve done it, too. We all have.
[Tweet “Living in the moments of our lives is potential in action.”]The amazing thing is that you can always do something different. Your potential is always there, but the price is, too. It’s up to you to choose which one to focus on. The other thing that happens when you focus on potential and payoff is the manifestation that comes without even trying. The universe meets you halfway because your intention is clear to push through the price and reach the potential. You’re committed to the result. This phenomena is a beautiful gift that you have to open yourself up to. In other words: You miss your gifts if you’re inside the “price” box.
Think about where your focus is today. Could a little shift help you to more easily achieve your potential? Please share your ideas and experiences with us!
Hi Kellie,
I love this from your post: “The other thing that happens when you focus on potential and payoff is the manifestation that comes without even trying. The universe meets you halfway because your intention is clear to push through the price and reach the potential. You’re committed to the result.”
I have certainly found that to be true, too. Some dreams are just too big to be held back. When the decision or commitment is made, things seem to flow into place effortlessly!
Thanks for sharing that direction. 🙂
It just really solidifies your confidence in yourself and the law of attraction. Thanks for your input, Michelle!
l love this perspective of looking at life’s choices for their potential and not their price. Brilliant distinction Kellie!
So grateful for your input, Minette! I haven’t written an article for a long time due to my focus on my new products. I was happy that it still flowed and some wisdom nuggets showed up. I appreciate your support! xo
Kelly I loved your post. ‘Living in the moments of our lives is potential in action’ – love love love this. Those tricky and sometimes painful moments make the space for the most profound growth. Thank you xox
Thanks for your visit, Jacqueline! Yes, I’ve experienced much growth in mine. You’re appreciated so much!
You are right Kellie, not everything we do will be easy or painless, but a big part of life is expanding, and to do that we must step out of the box to experience life fully. Contrast is our great teacher in this duality consciousness. Our choices define us and the outcome of our lives. Cheers to self-growth!
Yes, yes, and more yes, Debra! We have to allow ourselves to feel and experience without judgment. And, cheers back to you!
“The universe meets you halfway because your intention is clear.” I love this.
You’re dropping pearls of wisdom here Kellie.
Thank you for this! Joy
Thanks for your visit and input, Joy!
Great topic Kellie. You’re so right that when you focus your attention on your potential and take inspired action the Universe will converge in that moment of decision to pursue your heart’s calling and orchestrate what you need to support you in getting there. Your potential is extremely valuable. Fears of am I worth it, can I afford it, is this the right time are the limited beliefs you need to clear to get to the other side from where you are now to where your potential calls you!
I loved the cohesiveness of both of our posts today, Paula! What a process it is to truly acknowledge our potential and even expand it. Thanks for sharing your insight with WLL readers!
