Sexual Health: A Woman’s Right

Recently, I posted a couple of articles on women’s sexual health– not a complete series by any means.  So, I thought it a good idea to throw a couple more points out there on the subject.  It doesn’t get much more girlie than talking about vaginas.  The following article is a guest post by Vanessa Scott, a former vaginal surgery consultant who knows her stuff.  We’ll just call her the Vagina Expert, for now.

The Sexual Double Standard

I am pretty confident it is no surprise to any of you reading this that the rights of women have long and often been neglected by the wise and infallible men charged with leading us to a brighter future.

Historical Example

A great example that comes to mind is the right to vote. Not sure what percent of us knows this “fun fact,” women had to wait 50 years before they had the equal right (as men) to vote regardless of race or color.  So, is it really any surprise that in this day and age women’s sexual rights still lag so far behind men’s?

Take sexual gratification as a case and point.

There are more than 200 different products available to help men with impotence or erectile dysfunction. We’re talking about everything from that tiny blue pill to penis implants.  Implants are even covered by Medicare by the way.

What about for women?

What if you’re a mother whose vagina has felt “loose” ever since you gave birth to your children?  What if you can’t “feel” your partner anymore?  What if you have one or more excessively large labia that cause you discomfort during walking, exercising or sex?  Until recently, your only option was kegels (an often less than effective exercise developed in the 40’s).

Good News

The past 10 years has seen a giant leap forward in the field of women’s sexual satisfaction.  Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation and Labiaplasty are relatively quick procedures developed to help women enjoy their sex lives again.

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (LVR) is a surgical procedure that tightens the vaginal canal and entrance. This tightening allows for more friction during sexual intercourse and thus more enjoyment and pleasure.  In cases of women with SUI (Stress Urinary Incontinence), LVR strengthens the ligaments of the vaginal canal and helps to re-support the bladder.

Similar to what LVR does for the inside of the vagina, labiaplasty does for the outside.  This procedure trims away the excess tissue of the labia.  With the excess out of the way, the labia no longer rub the clothing awkwardly or get caught during sexual intercourse.

These procedures have opened the door for many women to savor their sex lives again. Think about it.  Most women have their first child in their 20’s and live into their 70’s.  That’s more than 50 years of less than satisfactory sex.  While we may not have 200 different products available, the simple fact is that we finally have options.  Each and every one of us (male or female) should enjoy our sex life.  It is a natural and healthy part of being human.  It’s our right.  You are a woman and deserve to “feel” like one!

If you think one of these procedures may improve the quality of your life, I urge you to find out more.

About Kellie R. Stone

"I make no excuses for my diverse roles as a Rock Your Feminine Type Coach™ and Branding Expert, best-selling author, and crime thriller novelist. Yes, I do still chuckle a bit at the irony. I kick ass as a women’s biz coach by day and kill off vulnerable fiction characters at night. What the hell, it makes for some interesting dreams. I believe that everyone should pursue their passions no matter how out there they seem to be. One of those pure heart-fluttering passions for me has always been writing. Since I did, indeed, chase my dream of being a writer, I've published two non-fiction books in the self-development genre, co-authored an international best seller, and now I'm finally pushing my much-too-old-to-be-in-the-nest novel out the door and into the world. My whole world is empowering and I adore showing others how to live life unfiltered, whether I do that through the written word or my coaching work. I love my job!" ~Kellie R. Stone
