7 Simple Ways To Be Happier And Healthier

Finding happiness and staying healthy has many facets. First of all, you have a body, mind, and spirit to consider while trying to build a happy, healthy life. And, you have to do this while attending to all the mundane (or downright awful) tasks and events thrown at you from all sides.

Our days can run together, leaving us little time to even think about what we truly want and need. Burnout and dissatisfaction can be the result of living like this for long periods of time.  Therefore, we have to discover ways to break things up and create the life we want to live and not just the one we have to. Here are a few simple ways to be happier and healthier.

Adopt A Pet

One way to promote health and happiness is to adopt a pet. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), a survey of pet owners revealed that 74% of them had improved mental health with a pet, and even more people saw improvements in the mental health of family or friends when they added a pet.

It’s really no wonder that a furry friend can help you be happier and healthier. After all, they are fun to play with, affectionate, and offer the unconditional love that we can sometimes struggle to find in other humans. Additionally, pets help you stay active because they need regular care and some require walks and active playtime.

Have a Set Bedtime

Unfortunately, sleep is one of the first things to suffer when your life gets hectic or challenging. Things like emotional and physical trauma, money problems, and work stress can create blocks to quality sleep. Know that even a few days of lost sleep can have a devastating effect on your overall health and happiness.

Sleep experts recommend having a regular and early bedtime each night, as well as a routine that leads up to it. This process tells your body and mind that it’s time to retire for the day. Avoid things like electronics, TV, work, and anything that gets you mentally and physically involved.

Focus on Improving Your Mental Health

Mental health is an essential piece of the puzzle when referring to your health and happiness. Focus on improving it and keeping it balanced by attending to relationships and doing things you love. Do also stay active and have some type of relaxation practice like meditation, prayer, and yoga to help rest your mind.

Take Care of  Things

By this, I mean, don’t let your life spiral out of control because you don’t want to do something. Instead of procrastinating, take care of conflict, chores, and the communication that needs to happen. Doing so brings a whole new level of peace and joy…and health if you consider you’ll sleep better and have less anxiety.

Get Help When You’re Down

If you have had the worst year due to health problems or injury, ask for help! These traumas can wreak havoc on your happiness when you feel overwhelmed and alone. Call your friends, family, a therapist, or personal injury lawyers if you have been hurt.  It doesn’t matter what the situation is, if you need help, there are people out there to support you. You need only reach out.

Take Breaks from Technology

While technology is useful and helpful, it can also be addictive and take up a lot of your time. Keep yourself happy and healthy by removing yourself from it regularly and not allowing it to consume you or your schedule. You may find that when you take breaks from technology, you have more opportunities to participate in other enjoyable activities, such as being out in nature or spending quality time with friends and family.

Exercise Daily

Another way to keep yourself happy and healthy is to exercise daily. It’s good for your physical as well as your mental and emotional well-being. Mix up your routine by doing different activities such as biking, swimming, and running. Set achievable fitness goals and celebrate your victories!

About Kellie R. Stone

"I make no excuses for my diverse roles as a Rock Your Feminine Type Coach™ and Branding Expert, best-selling author, and crime thriller novelist. Yes, I do still chuckle a bit at the irony. I kick ass as a women’s biz coach by day and kill off vulnerable fiction characters at night. What the hell, it makes for some interesting dreams. I believe that everyone should pursue their passions no matter how out there they seem to be. One of those pure heart-fluttering passions for me has always been writing. Since I did, indeed, chase my dream of being a writer, I've published two non-fiction books in the self-development genre, co-authored an international best seller, and now I'm finally pushing my much-too-old-to-be-in-the-nest novel out the door and into the world. My whole world is empowering and I adore showing others how to live life unfiltered, whether I do that through the written word or my coaching work. I love my job!" ~Kellie R. Stone
