Get That Healthy Glow

Ahhh…the glow of youthful, healthy skin, something that can elude us if we don’t work at it.  I do, however, truly believe that anyone can achieve radiant beauty with just a few lifestyle changes…and a few great products.  You likely know some of the secrets if you have been reading Women’s Life Link.  I love to talk about how to get beautiful through proper health.  You will benefit from any effort that you put forth, even if it’s just one thing you do differently.  But for maximum results, try all three parts of my program for radiant, healthy skin.

Good In – Good Out

OK, first, let’s take a look at what to put into your body in order to get optimal results in the skin department.  The absolute #1 thing you MUST do is drink 8-10 glasses of good water a day.  When your body dehydrates, every cell suffers, including skin; this gives you a dull, dry appearance, not the glow we’re after.

And in the food department, the more fresh fruits and veggies you can consume, the better your body’s systems will perform.  When your organs work at optimal level, you feel more energy.  Think what you might accomplish with more energy.  This is how beautiful skin comes into play.  Exercise increases your circulation and in turn helps skin renew itself more quickly.

One more thing, keep up with vitamin and mineral supplements that are appropriate for your age group.  Your health care provider can advise you which ones you need.  Specifically for skin, take supplements with A, C, E, and D as these are the ones with the highest antioxidant properties.  Your B vitamins will also help with low energy and aid in skin’s rejuvenation.  You can look for products that have been designed to promote healthy skin like Glowelle Beauty Drink.  It’s Antioxidant-rich vitamin A, C and E combine with goji berries, green and white tea extracts to nourish your skin from within.  I personally use Glowelle products and have found them not only refreshing but a boost for my skin.  I like to mix it with juice, ice, and fruit for a morning smoothie.

Skin Care Makes a Difference

One thing that you can’t skimp on if you want to get that glow is good skin care.  I’m not saying that you need to spend a fortune, but you do need to be consistent.  Enlisting the help of a skin care pro might be a good idea if you are not sure what products are right for you.  Mary Kay, Arbonne, Estee Lauder, Avon, Merle Norman, and Origins are all reputable companies that provide their customers with ongoing help with their skin and beauty needs.  I like to use more organic products myself as they provide a natural way to care for my skin.  Aveda has some wonderful products that have been charged with tourmaline; I find them to brighten my complexion with regular use.  .  The Aveda line is my favorite because it works for me and I can afford it.

No matter what products you choose, just remember to be consistent.  Wash your face every night before bed and in the morning for a fresh glow.  Exfoliation is just as important as cleanliness.  Whether it’s a scrub, mask, or other exfoliating product, make sure you use it twice a week as this will remove any dead skin cells revealing the healthy, new skin below.

Add a Little Glow

The last thing I want to tell you about are the products that are designed to give you a healthy, natural glow.  These are topical lotions or bases that you simply apply to your face.  Most of you probably know about the lotions that have the shimmer in them.  I have used several Olay products that do give your body a nice shimmery glow.  However, I don’t use those on my face.  The best one that I have found is Revlon Skinlights.  Because it comes in a variety of shades, you can really create a subtle natural glow or a  sun-kissed look  that gives the appearance that you’ve been sunning – definitely a safer way to get tan.  I found all of the various colors on a product search website called Pebble.com.  They have great product information and will answer any questions that you have before you buy.  This is a plus when purchasing health and beauty products.   Let me know what you think about the Revlon product; I love it!

One other skin-brightening product that I found to be helpful is the Physician’s Formula Eye-Brightener.  I have used it off and on for years.  It’s great for those times when you want a little added glimmer without applying full eye make up.  It has a mixture of different colors so it compliments any skin tone and eye color.  You can find it in most drugstores and in your grocery’s beauty aisle.

Well, there you go; hopefully, you are on your way to that healthy, glowing skin that you’ve always wanted.  For more tips and product recommendations, check out the articles in the beauty and style section.  Be well; be beautiful!

About Kellie R. Stone

"I make no excuses for my diverse roles as a Rock Your Feminine Type Coach™ and Branding Expert, best-selling author, and crime thriller novelist. Yes, I do still chuckle a bit at the irony. I kick ass as a women’s biz coach by day and kill off vulnerable fiction characters at night. What the hell, it makes for some interesting dreams. I believe that everyone should pursue their passions no matter how out there they seem to be. One of those pure heart-fluttering passions for me has always been writing. Since I did, indeed, chase my dream of being a writer, I've published two non-fiction books in the self-development genre, co-authored an international best seller, and now I'm finally pushing my much-too-old-to-be-in-the-nest novel out the door and into the world. My whole world is empowering and I adore showing others how to live life unfiltered, whether I do that through the written word or my coaching work. I love my job!" ~Kellie R. Stone
